Modern exhaust gas systems for clean air: “Today the Federal Government is talking money”
Special representative of the Federal Government encourages the retrofitting of diesel buses with modern exhaust gas systems.
- Diesel bus retrofit as an important measure for avoiding driving bans
- BMVI and TUEV confirm the high technical demands of the promotion directive
- 85% efficiency on all route sections and at every season as a central requirement
- As well as systems for MAN, HJS also now presents EVOBUS variants for the first time
“Today the Federal Government is talking money” With this sentence Dr. Siegfried Balleis, the special representative of the Federal Government for the “Immediate Program Clean Air”, opened a get-together of municipalities and passenger transport companies related to the public transport promotion directive for the retrofit of diesel buses in Berlin. Invited to this exchange, in which providers of corresponding NOx reduction systems also participated, was the Federal Ministry for Transport and Infrastructure (BMVI). The meeting took place completely under the motto: Clean buses for clean cities. Representatives of the Federal Government stressed the importance of retrofitting buses for the realisation of the NOx emission limit values, within the framework of the deadline. The high demands on the technical effectiveness of the promoted systems were demonstrated by TUEV North Rhine. As well as the demanding certification measurement in real-life operation with portable independent emission measuring system (PEMS), field monitoring is also provided by the KBA.
The presentation resonated strongly with Duesseldorf Rheinbahn
After the big response to the presentation of the first diesel bus with retrofitted SCRT® technology and active thermo-management on 20th July 2018 in Duesseldorf with the Minister of Transport Andreas Scheuer (CSU), HJS invited the promotion-entitled bus operators to a Berlin conference centre on Thursday, 26th July 2018, to inform about the technical conception of the bus retrofit of the company from Menden.
Key function active thermo-management
Retrofitting with well-proven HJS SCRT® technology – extended by active thermo-management – guarantees best-possible lowering of nitrogen oxide emissions in buses in city operation. And this on every route and in every season. Therefore the retrofitting of buses with this HJS technology is one of the most efficient and effective measures in reducing nitrogen oxides in cities and thus actively contributing to avoiding driving bans. Public passenger transport can be brought to Euro VI level in the short term and at low cost The retrofit is financed, analogous to the promotion directives published in March, mainly by the Federal Government.
Wide-ranging delivery program – now systems for Evobus are also presented
As well as the system variants for buses of the manufacturer MAN already presented in Duesseldorf, HJS now presented for the first time in public the demanding solution for the vehicles of the company EVOBUS. This system variant additionally integrates a diesel particle filter into the extremely confined construction space of the original exhaust gas system, as well as the optimised nitrogen oxide reduction (SCR) with active thermo-management.
Why the driver does not notice any difference
The special feature in this system is the integration into the existing on-board infrastructure of the manufacturer. Tank filling level and on-board diagnostics are maintained completely. “We offer a complete, integrated system monitoring system. For the driver of the bus, and likewise for the handling of the vehicle in the workshop, no changes result from the integrated retrofit. The most Important thing is achieved however, “Clean bus for clean cities”, Dr. Christoph Menne, Managing Director HJS, explains.
